In a search for new ways to portray the local area, she explores the dynamics of buildings and landscape, including the manipulation of effects of light she enjoys surprising viewers about their assumptions of what the area means to them.
Rather than presenting a total factual reality, an illusion is fabricated to conjure the mixture of collective nostalgic memories. Ruth’s works establish a link between the landscape’s reality and that imagined by its conceiver.
