About Fleet Arts

Fleet Arts is a community arts charity based in Belper, Derbyshire for over thirty years. We are committed to delivering quality and diverse creative workshops, projects and events with a wide variety of groups and organisations across the region, ensuring arts provision is engaging and inclusive.
An accessible venue with a great view, plenty of parking and just a five minute walk from the centre of town.

We have a fully equipped music rehearsal room, artist studios and two spacious rooms for hire.

We will be open both days of the Arts Trail with a diverse mix of creative and interactive offerings for all ages throughout our whole venue.
Both days:-

Main hall & meeting room:

  • Brochure point - Why not start at Fleet Arts if you live or park around that end of town.
  • Ola’s Apothecary – interactive/light-hearted performance art challenge
  • Vinyl record trolley – choose a record and play it on the record player
  • Purchases – treat yourself to a second-hand book and an array of plants
  • Exhibition – a selection of work by the Fleet Art Studio Collective
  • Refreshments - Cake stall & drinks/‘Delicut’ vegan snacks by new local pop-up vegan restaurant initative & also selling their intricate paper-cut & wood-cut cards/gifts.

Open Studio:

The Fleet Arts Collective is made up of five professional artists. Come and see their quality and diverse work (with some demonstrations):

  • Jen Aitken - Painting
  • Sara Brighty - Mixed media
  • Nansy Ferrett-Campbell - Painting
  • Jayne Nemeth - Printing
  • Emma Parkin - Willow sculpture

On the Memorial Gardens Fleet Arts Music Coordinator Loz Shaw will be running a stage showcasing musicians of all ages in collaboration alongside Graham Marriott.

Sunday 5th only:

  • Limericks – on-the-spot prose made just for you by a real poet
  • Lego - Tan Draig & his amazing Lego collection drop-in workshop

Monday 6th only:

  • Textile drop-in - have-a-go at rag rugging and loom weaving
  • Taster sessions - from some of the groups that use Fleet Arts regularly
  • 10.30am – 11.30am Toddler Spanish
  • 11.30am – 12.30pm Dru Yoga
  • 1.30pm – 2.30pm Life drawing
  • 2.30pm – 3.30pm Circle Dancing
  • 3.30pm – 4.30pm Vibrational Sound Bath/meditation
