Zoe ̈' s work is mainly ceramic, yet textile in origin. Using both traditional and digital techniques she decorates the surface of her handmade tiles with a combination of drawings, textile samples, found papers and glazes, often adding wire, fabric or thread to the work, for a contrast in surface texture.
Living near Wirksworth, the stunning views inspire her on a daily basis. She often uses the local landscape as a starting point. Most recent landscapes have been larger and more ambitious in scale and format. Zoë has also started to work to commission. Lockdown was the start of a new direction into cityscapes, beginning with Florence, Rome and Barcelona. These textile and ceramic pieces are an attempt to capture the excitement, romance and pure artistry of these beautiful cities. Some of her images are now available on velvet cushions, glass coasters and lampshades.
