I am an artist based in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire and I am currently running a solo exhibition at Gallery No.1, Repton, Derbyshire until 17th Feb. I have a passion for oil and cold wax medium, painting mostly semi-abstract landscapes.
A cold wax and oil painting is created by applying layers, blending the colours, scraping into the work or adding texture. It is a continuous cycle of adding then taking away. Having an abstract approach can produce an interesting visual body of work, and the exciting part is you never quite know how it is going to turn out!
I find it a completely immersive process until I get to the point where I am finally happy with the piece! With their ever changing colours and seasons, my hope is that my art creates an emotion, connection or a memory that landscapes create.
