Inspired by the Dark Peak landscape, Helen’s work captures nature in moments of light and colour.
‘Nature plays an important part in my life; it calms and enriches me. The pop-up highlights of woodland bluebells and summer heather bring me such joy. If I can capture the essence of that in nature through art, I’m happy.’
After teaching in Manchester, Stockport and Chinley, Helen worked with the National Trust in the Peak District. There she engaged visitors, schools and communities with nature, landscapes and heritage at places like Mam Tor and Longshaw. Helen fitted her art in around work but now works part-time and is making more time to paint.
Helen lives with her daughter in the High Peak village of Chinley.
