Metalwork – blacksmith/bladesmith
About:
Having specialised in woodwork for 20 years, in 1999 I changed direction, developing my blacksmithing skills to restore antiques and create new metal objects. As well as forging practical items, I enjoy experimenting with different processes to create sculptural pieces, often inspired by the natural world.
All my work is hand-forged by me; hence each piece bears the marks of this process and is unique. In 2014, I took courses in the ancient skill of forging pattern-welded (Damascus) knives and have since specialised as a bladesmith and blacksmith. I take pride in making everything myself, including the wooden handles, presentation boxes and leather sheaves for my knives.
