Sunday 30th April & Monday 1st May 2023
We are pleased to say that 2023 will be the 10th Belper Arts Trail. We would like this to be a special one to celebrate and would like you to join us in that celebration.
It will take place on Sunday 30th April and Bank Holiday Monday 1st May. It will be focused, as usual, around the centre of Belper involving community centres, shops, businesses, pubs, churches and some private houses.
The 2022 Trail was special for everyone in that it was the first real time that we had emerged from Covid and, we can say, it exceeded our expectations. We had 125 artists in 51 venues and supplemented that with activities for children, music and other entertainment. We aim to do that again – only more of it along with more things to bring in visitors to Belper and to the Trail.
We are planning some extra special visual attractions which will emerge over the next few months, all being well, and we will keep you informed about these as they develop. The more people who come to the Trail… the better for everyone.
We are also going to keep the cost the same, recognising that these are difficult times for us all.
If you are an artist in a venue, you will be placed in a venue which will be determined by us during February/March. This may be a singleton venue or a venue with multiple artists. We take many factors into account when placing you and we also want the trail to stay vibrant so we would look to move people around the trail year-on-year.
The fee entitles you to a table and chair(s) or space which is the equivalent of that if you wish to bring your own set up. If you do have your own set up we would encourage you to bring this.
Our venues are many and varied and available space differs. However, on average, you should assume that space will cater for a 6’ x 2’6” table and additional space for browsers or easels alongside.
If you require space above and beyond the fee entitlement you will need to let us know so that we can discuss with you what your needs are, whether they can be accommodated and what would be the extra cost.
Please note we do not offer hanging systems or display boards.
This is predominantly an interactive trail with the expectation that the artist/maker will be present at the venue for the two days in order to exhibit, sell and demonstrate if you so wish.
In 2022 we had ten window displays and this proved to be very popular. We would like to continue this offer in 2023. We will probably have a limited number of windows and these will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis.
You may not want to be present for some reason or you can already be present in another venue.
If you would like a window display as well as a venue then please do say so and discuss with us the feasibility of this and what the combined cost would be.
The event will be extensively advertised and the Trail brochure will be produced with your details in it. This will be made available to you in your venue and trail visitors will be able to obtain this before the event and on the event days.
We would also encourage you to use your own network of communications once we get near to the trail. We will supply you with logos, e-flyers and anything else you think we may help you with.
Please can you confirm your participation in the Trail by completing the downloaded form and paying, where applicable, the appropriate fee by Tuesday, 31st January 2023. You may apply now as long as you pay by the due date.
We aim to gather all the information we need at the beginning of the process. Of particular importance is the need to provide us with images at the beginning of the process and a specification is attached in addition to a few words about yourself and your artwork which we will use on the website.
It is important that you provide these when you apply.
You can keep up to date with the Trail progress via Facebook and Instagram and our website.
